ITN Malang Creates App to Make Area Surveillance More Easier

TIMESINDONESIA, JAKARTA – Institut Teknologi Nasional (ITN) Malang creates an innovation to make area and town surveillance more easier with the use of application.

Built by Muhammad Reza ST MUPR, one of lecturer in Urban and Regional Planning of ITN Malang, this Android-based app is called Ur Watch or Urban and Regional Watch.

Reza said that this app is the first kind in Indonesia. With Ur Watch, user can easily do some surveillance in particular town.

"For example, property developer or people from out the city that wishes to build on particular area, they don't need to come there - just watch it from this app is enough," said the Australian-graduate lecturer.

Reza explains that with this app, it can be seen how far the data on the urban and regional planning is.

"So for example, people from Jakarta who wants to see which area can be developed as settlement, they don't need to come to Malang and just check this app instead," he add.

This system works with the integrated data of spatial planning of the area, including the zoning map. This app is also integrated with Google Maps so it can connect and display map with the land used in the desired area.

"User choose and post the field, then wait for admin's response - in this case, the parliament in every region, also related office in the spatial planning, " Reza said.

He adds that the data in Ur Watch is based on the spatial data that legalized by local government. "Data in this app is legal, so there is no potential eviction when the house or settlement, even business places, is already built," Reza add.

Built in the space of three months, this app already tested in the Kepanjen, Malang for case study. "In the future, there will be more area that can be watched with this app," Reza concluded. (*)
